The Wizard is a hero character in The Sims Medieval. The wizard can learn and cast magic spells and study new ones as part of their daily occupation. Spells can be learned through the correct alignment of runes and can be cast on other Sims. Most spells can be learned after gaining enough experience, however there are easter egg spells in the game. A wizard also needs to gather plants to create potions to fulfill their professional responsibilities. Wizards have a crafting station in their tower which contains a magical tome from which they study their spells, a station to brew their potions, and a Crystal Ball of which they can scry. The wizard can be male or female and is an ally of the Kingdom as opposed to the Witch who is the villain of the quest. As shown in The Sims Medieval Townhall Event, a wizard is powerful enough to kill a Monarch with a spell. Although the wizard can't directly kill a sim, he can wound the target severely, and the wounds can develop into plague which eventually kills the person unless your kingdom has high well-being and a physician. the wizard is also able to cast a spell which immediately gives the target the plague.

Wizards use staffs of different power levels to cast spells. The power level decides along with the focus level how much chance there is the spell will succeed, how effective the spell is, and how much energy it drains.

  • Wizards have the option to meditate to regain energy, instead of sleeping in a bed.
  • Advanced level wizards may use the forge to create magical staves and enchant weapons.

Spells

Spells are prepared by arranging runes according to a pattern given by the Study Spells action. You must first open the study spell screen, highlight the spell you want to learn, memorize the rune pattern, then go to the prepare spell screen to prepare it.

Prepared spells can be reused until they are forgotten. You have a limited number of spell slots (you start with 3 spell slots and 4 possible spells to prepare), so you must forget a spell in order to prepare a new spell.

Potions

Wizards can craft potions by gathering the ingredients and crafting at the potion station. Ingredients can be found randomly in the kingdom by discovering plants and rocks, or they can be purchased from the village store. Many responsibilities require crafting and delivering potions, so be sure to stock up on ingredients so you're not running to the village store at the last minute.

One strategy to get ingredients for free is to find an area dense with resources you need, e.g. the resources outside the wizard's home, harvest them all and cast the growth spell right after. The growth spell will replenish the resources so you can harvest them again immediately.
