Religion, Agnostic Agnostics are adherents of Agnosticism, the view that the existence of deities is unknown, unknowable, unproven, or unprovable. Agnostics don't disbelieve but merely feel that there's not enough evidence to support either the existence or inexistence of deities.

In The Sims Medieval, all Sims except for priests start out as Agnostic in faith, neither believing in or disbelieving in the Watcher. Priests can attempt to convert others to their faith, either by directly discussing it with individuals or giving sermons, which has a small chance of spontaneously converting Sims who listen to them. In addition, when being controlled, a hero can speak with a priest and ask to join their church, automatically converting the hero to the priest's religion.

Heroes who have a faith can approach the priest of their church to renounce their faith, turning them back into Agnostics. This does slightly harm their relationship with the priest, but doesn't give either Sim a negative buff, or remove buffs restricted to members of the faith they're renouncing.

Effects[]

Lacking a faith is a double-edged sword. Agnostic Sims will occasionally get a small buff that stems from their lack of faith. This will randomly be either the positive Carefree buff that indicates them enjoying their independence from religion or the negative Searching buff that indicates a desire to find spirituality. Both buffs modify the Agnostic's Focus by 10 and last for 3 hours.

It's unknown if an Agnostic Sim's traits affect the chance of getting either a positive or negative buff (such as Solitary Agnostics enjoying carefree independence more). It's also unknown if either buff alters the chance of a priest successfully converting the Agnostic.

Trivia

The symbol for ingame Agnostics appears similar to the Black Sun, a powerful symbol used in Occultism and Germanic Paganism.
